Del.icio.us is often called a “Social Bookmarking” service. It gives you the ability to create and access your bookmarks from multiple machines. Del.icio.us content is organized using “tags”, one word descriptions of the content. A bookmark can have multiple tags, and you can search based on those tags.
Your del.icio.us bookmarks can also be shared in various ways, this is the feature I plan to take advantage of. To the right, you should see a selection of recent links added to Manga Calendar's del.icio.us account.
Relevant del.icio.us links appear under the Scheduled Releases section of a book's details page. These links should lead you to news, reviews, fanlists, art, etc. on the book or series. For examples, see the Manga Calendar entries for Negima, Boogiepop and Tramps Like Us.
Step-by-step instructions.
Manga Calendar is my way to experiment with new technologies that I don’t get to play with at my day job. As a web developer, I find del.icio.us to be a very interesting service and I wanted to find a way to leverage it within Manga Calendar.
When I first created Manga Calendar, I considered adding the ability for guests to add reviews to the site, but that would involve creating a registration process. Since website registrations are a pain in the neck for guests and developers alike, I decided to take advantage of a service that many of you already use.
Please let me know what you think about this new feature.
